- Find things around the house that are one color. Have your child write the color word onto a small index card, and tape the card to the object. Do it all over the house, and watch your child read the house!
- Pull out a page from a coloring book (or find a coloring page on the web. Write one color word in each part of the picture with black pen or marker (i.e. write "green" on the tree, or "purple" on a skirt). Have your child color the page according to the words.
- Clap, Slap Stomp--Call out a color word to your child, then ask to to make a rhythm while spelling the word by clapping, slapping, or stomping parts of their body (I.e. clap "g...r....e,e,n!). This makes a great game for the car, in line, or waiting at the doctor's office.
